It was “anchors aweigh” for the members of Risky Business as the band performed
on a recent May Monday night aboard the World Yacht Cruises vessel PRINCESS.
Sailing from the west side of Manhattan, we entertained some 280 members,
spouses and guests of the New York Police Department Retired Detectives
Association.
We sailed up the Hudson to the George Washington Bridge and then downriver to view the glorious Statue of Liberty which was beautifully lit at night.
Joining us on the bandstand was super sub drummer Billy O., filling in for Tommy, who we left ashore nursing a recent injury.
Once we pulled away from the dock, the band was
rocking and the boat was rolling! No problem for some of our vocalists -- Navy
veteran Ed, ex-Coast Guardsman Chris and former Marine Andrew. For the rest of
us landlubbers, all was fine once we got our sea legs.
The music was so good that the NYC Fire Department gave us their famous Fireboat Water Jet Salute! [Editor's note: we have now been informed that the salute may have been for the detectives]
What fun to be on a “Sea
Cruise!”
